Say No To Drugs 5K, 10K, & 1 Mile 21st Annual Charity Race Set for Dec. 19
Tampa -

Clearwater, FL - Say No To Drugs (http://www.saynotodrugs.com) 21st Annual Holiday Classic 5K, 10K, & 1 Mile race has been set for December 19th, 2009 at 8:00AM. The location for the race will be the Clearwater Harborview Center in beautiful downtown, Clearwater, Fl, with the course taking runners out to Clearwater Beach and back to the Harborview Center for a free post-race pancake breakfast. As a bonus, this year, awesome, long-sleeved tech-shirts will be given to the first 800 entries! The race is presented by the Dianetics Athletics Association.

Started 21 years ago by local Scientologist and world-class athlete Sandra Johnson, the Say No To Drugs Holiday Classic has become one of the premier races in Tampa Bay, and continues to draw rave reviews from its runners such as: It is one of the best organized events. The course is beautiful. There are lots of quality raffle giveaways. The pancake breakfast is awesome (and free). The price staying low and it's one of the better bangs-for-the-buck!

Proceeds from the race go to local Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts, Youth Triathlon Series, Challenged Athletes Foundation, Youth for a Drug Free Florida and many other deserving organizations.

Generous sponsors include WQYK 99.5FM, Crystal Springs Water, Gatorade, PowerBar, SweetWheat, Einstein Bros Bagels, Chainwheel Drive, Sweet Tomatoes, Outspoken and many, many others.

Sandra Johnson's inspiration comes from Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard who developed a program to remove the effects of drugs and toxins and who once wrote:  "We live in a chemical oriented society.  One would be hard put to find someone in the present-day civilization who is not affected by this fact.  I have even found that there is such a thing as the 'drug personality.'"

Say No to Drugs Holiday (http://www.saynotodrugs.com) Classic Race, started 21 years ago by Sandra Johnson, member of the Dianetics Athletics Association of the Church of Scientology. The idea was to promote an anti-drug message by raising awareness through a road race. Top runners in prior years have included six-time World Ironman Triathlon Champion Mark Allen, Canadian Olympian Peter Maher, American Olympian Ronnie Holassie, Swiss Olympian Dan Otz as well as local Clearwater stars Mary Level-Menton and Judy Mercon-Maguire.
